AT40: Olivia Rodrigo (2) Week Of August 7, 2021
So the month of August is now here. And now I have one more month until I'm off to college! I'm super excited to start my college career. Anyway. As far as the countdown goes, I thought it looks okay, but we did get rid of another song that's in my Top 10 Songs of the year, and that of course it will forever be missed. And there's also a mixture of good and bad things that were happening on there. I'll get to all of those later on, but other than that, I don't have anything else to say here, so let's get to it! #1 Song This Week One Year Ago:
Dua Lipa - Break My Heart (1st and only week at #1)
This Week's Mover and Shaker:
I'm so mad about Post Malone - Motley Crew taking the biggest jump. This really does not deserve it. But The Kid Laroi/Justin Bieber - Stay (+14) was also tied for the biggest jump this week, so that's so nice to see.
I was actually expecting Silk Sonic - Leave The Door Open (-6) to take the biggest drop this week. I know that because of the fact that it's on it's way out of here. And I'm sure it'll leave here very soon.
New Song/s on the AT40 this week are:
Maroon 5 - Lost: This is such an amazing song. But definitely not as good as Beautiful Mistakes, but it's still amazing. I've gone through my opinion on this one last month when it debuted Hit Bound. For my opinion, the production was super outstanding, Adam's vocals were absolutely amazing, the lyrics were very interesting, and the chorus was super amazing. Hopefully this should do well on there.
Billie Eilish - NDA: Although this song was a little bit of a step up from Your Power, but it's still a decent song. For my opinion, the production in this one was decent, Billie's vocals were decent, the lyrics were decent, the chorus was decent, everything on this song was decent. And yes, I'm sure this is probably going to end up becoming a hit on there. But we don't know yet for sure. Though this is a decent song for me overall. Let's see how far this one goes.
Tai Verdes - A-O-K: The best debut this week. I've been hearing this song a lot on Alt Nation. As far as the song goes, it's definitely a phenomenal song. For my opinion, the production was so phenomenal, Tai's vocals were super phenomenal, the lyrics were super interesting, and that chorus was absolutely heavenly. I'm really hoping that it should do better on here than on the Alt-18. Let's see how far this one should go.
My Opinions/My Thoughts On The Top 5:
5. Ed Sheeran - Bad Habits: It debuted the Top 5 this week. I'm so pleased that it managed to be in there. And I'm sure this is going to be at the top spot very soon. Hopefully it'll happen.
4. Olivia Rodrigo - Deja Vu: I'm still waiting for this song to be in the Top 3. But I'm not sure if it'll happen though. But it sure would be nice if it did very soon.
3. Doja Cat/SZA - Kiss Me More: I actually didn't think it was going to still be in the Top 3 this week. But I'm sure this is going to be out of here next week.
2. Lil Nas X - Montero (Call Me By Your Name): I actually thought that this song is going to start dropping this week. But I'm sure it'll start doing it next week.
1. Olivia Rodrigo - Good 4 U: Holding the top spot for the 2nd week in a row. I'm so pleased that it's still in there. Gosh, she really has been having an amazing career lately. Now, let's see if it'll stay in there next week or not.
